Pastels from life
Exhibition in Cazals
Painting from life is one of the most rewarding genres, especially when you have the chance to work with friends.
I’m excited to be showing my pastels in my studio in cazals along with work by Peter Thomas, Corry Kooy and Sophie Amauger for three weeks frim the 19th of March. We all met through the French pastel Society and have a mutual appreciation of each other’s styles. I hope that anyone interested in plein air, contemporary figurative painting, might enjoy a visit.
Sophie’s precise attention to composition and colour in her beautiful pastels, give an intense emotional quality to her work

Corry is a dutch artist who works directly from her subjects with energy and spontaneity, townscapes, landscapes, people and even newborn calves.
Light and air vibrate in Peter’s landscapes, inspired by the Spanish landscape and fields and meadows around his Perigord home.
Peter Thomas will be joining me in Cazals for the opening on the 19th. We hope you will visit and allow us to share our passion for pastel painting. For those interested in learning about technique I’ll have some materials available to try.
If the weather is kind, Rob and Frankie will provide a touch of festivity at midday, playing and singing for us outside the atelier, a perfect time to enjoy a Sunday morning coffee or aperitif.
In the afternoon, from 15h, Peter and I will set up our easels to demonstrate pastel painting in the streets of Cazals. If you would like to bring your materials and work along with us, you would be welcome.
