I am a practicing artist with much teaching experience.
In my classes I concentrate on teaching traditional skills, covering Drawing, Colour, Composition and Observation.
I am currently running two-weekly workshops in watercolour and in pastel. Each class lasts for three hours. Classes are kept small; a maximum of 9. The atmosphere is relaxed.
I aim to continually propose new ideas and to guide the students through a series of projects and techniques giving frequent demonstrations.

Portrait and figure painting in pastel
A pastel course concentrating on working from a model. Proportions and drawing are a vital part working from the figure but we will also deal with the common difficulties of incorporating the background and studying skin colour.
Conditions are the same as for the October course.

'Penny is a sensitive and helpful tutor who allocates her time fairly amongst all her students'.
'As a hobbyist painter I am not always clear what my requirements are until I pick up a brush. However, Penny consistently manages to provide guidance and support without 'taking over'. This is why the course, in my experience, works so well.'
'Penny uses her considerable talent as both artist and teacher to support her student's and in doing so uses a generous dose of humour which makes for a very good all-round experience.'
